Dancer, painter, singer... Artist!! Photographer??

Is photography a form of art?? Can it be used as a tool to display ones artistic talents??

I used to believe otherwise. For me photography was all about knowing the features in your digital camera. Once that was done u were ready to join NAT GEO as their official photographer. Not so obvious as it is... Over my last year in Delhi i have seen some work of photography which totally chagned my point of view. I have realised now, what a painter does with a pallette and colours, a photographer does with lights and lenses... Photography as a form of Art is absolutely true. And to show you that it is evolving with each passing day i have to present to you a photography exhibition of 9 such photographers who not only believe in the art of photography but also execute it to perfection...

The exhibition is called 'VISION BEYOND'.

I believe photography is an art. However, I have had debates on whether it is still art if the photograph is 'photoshop'ed. I believe in taking great snaps; not in taking mediocre snaps and 'touching' them up. (I am sure that is a different kind of art!)

@ Nikhil

You know photography is a more adaptable art due to the computer intelligence attached so closely to it. Thats why we have more people taking on photography. But that is what makes it more interesting. To stand out with something in a larger crowd is quite interesting. And imagine... For someone who cannot draw, paint, dance, sing or do something artistic, photography can help. Right??
